Building Regulations

Building regulations are legal requirements aimed at achieving adequate standards for the construction of domestic, commercial and industrial buildings, they are laid down by Parliament and are supported by the Approved Documents - see below.
The Approved documents contain practical guidance on ways of complying with the Building Regulations. The approved documents provide information on how to achieve compliance with the regulations in common building situations. You are not obliged to follow the guidance, you may demonstrate compliance in other ways - However in many cases the building control body will accept that if guidance has been followed in the AD then compliance with the Building Regulations may be assumed.
